Ice dyeing is a method that requires ice cubes and dye: the fusion of these two components, helped by time and temperature, create something alluring, unexpected and different every time.
This environmentally friendly technique of dyeing fabric using ice cubes supports the ‘slow movement’: quality over quantity. 10% less water is used during this process than regular commercial dyeing methods.
Excited by this discovery - we are using this knowledge to support our dyeing process and help in the reduction of water wastage within the textile design industry. Design Floe also make ice cubes using rain, extending our collaboration with nature and ensuring this process is as sustainable as possible.
